Jomtien Beach: A Hidden Gem in Pattaya
Jomtien Beach, nestled just south of the bustling Pattaya. While often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor, Jomtien boasts a unique charm that's perfect for those seeking relaxation and a more laid-back vibe. Jomtien is at its busiest on the weekend when Thai's from Bangkok travel the 2 hours for a weekend beach get away. We have found Jomtien to be the most affordable seaside town in Thailand.
Jomtien an affordable haven for Slow Travelers like us.
The heart of Jomtien is its beach, stretching for several kilometers along the Gulf of Thailand. Unlike Pattaya's crowded shores, Jomtien offers a more serene setting with beach side chairs where you can enjoy a fresh coconut or a cold beer and order some great Thai food. Keep an eye out for the sellers walking up and down the beach selling everything from squid on a stick, som tam, fresh fruit and beach gear. Across from the beach you will find toilets where you will pay 5 to 10 baht for use of the facilities. Along the beach you will notice the umbrella chairs are set up in sections and numbered, each of these sections are operated by different families. When choosing a number we find one that has a good toilet close by, priorities lol. Whether you're looking to sunbathe, swim, or simply stroll along the shore, Jomtien provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation.
